Assisi – a key religious site, known as the birthplace of St. Francis, founder of the Franciscan Order. The Basilica of St. Francis, with its famous frescoes, attracts pilgrims from around the world. St. Clare, a follower of St. Francis, also founded the Poor Clares order here, making the town a center of Christian spirituality focused on peace, humility, and devotion.
San Giovanni Rotondo – a small town in southern Italy, famous for being the home of St. Padre Pio, a beloved Catholic priest known for his spiritual gifts, including stigmata. The town attracts thousands of pilgrims to the Sanctuary of Padre Pio, where his tomb is located, along with the modern church built in his honor. Padre Pio’s legacy of prayer, healing, and miracles has made San Giovanni Rotondo a major pilgrimage destination.
Rome – the capital of Italy, is a city steeped in history, culture, and religion. Known as the “Eternal City,” it was the heart of the Roman Empire and is home to iconic landmarks like the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon. As the center of the Catholic Church, Rome also houses Vatican City, the seat of the Pope, and St. Peter’s Basilica. USA - ROME

Pilgrimage to Italy 2025 – Assisi, San Giovanni Rotondo and Rome
ASSISI
We arrive in Rome, where we’ll be welcomed by our tour guide and taken to our motor coach after clearing customs. We’ll then transfer to Assisi to check in at our hotel and enjoy a delightful dinner this evening.
ASSISI
We begin the day with Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis, followed by a guided tour of Assisi, including the Basilica of St. Francis, the Church of Santa Clara with her incorrupt body, and the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, home to the Porziuncola.
The rest of the day is free to explore—hike to the Hermitage, visit San Damiano, or stroll through Assisi’s picturesque streets. Dinner at our hotel.
ASSISI - LANCIANO - SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO
After breakfast, we depart Assisi this morning and head east to Lanciano, a city renowned for its Eucharistic Miracle, which became the foundation of the Feast of Corpus Christi. We will attend Mass here. In the afternoon, we continue toward the Adriatic Coast, arriving in San Giovanni Rotondo by late afternoon. After checking in at our hotel, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring for the evening
SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO
Today, we celebrate Mass at the Tomb of St. Padre Pio. Afterward, we’ll visit sites associated with this humble Capuchin monk, known for his deep faith and the stigmata he bore. We’ll explore his tomb and cell, the old church where he received the stigmata, and his confessional. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.
SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO - PIETRELCINA - ROME
Today, we travel to Rome, stopping at Monte Sant’Angelo to visit the Sanctuary built by Charles I of Anjou. Next, we head to Pietralcina, the birthplace of St. Padre Pio, where we’ll celebrate Mass at Santa Maria Degli Angeli, the site of his first Mass, and visit his home and the museum at Sacred Family Church. We’ll then continue on to Rome for dinner and overnight.
ROME
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day tour of Rome. Begin with a guided tour of Christian Rome, visiting the major basilicas: St. Mary Major (where Mass will be celebrated), St. John Lateran, and St. Paul Outside the Walls, followed by a visit to the Catacombs. In the afternoon, explore Ancient Rome, including the Appian Way, Arch of Constantine, Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum (with an interior tour). After dinner, return to the hotel for overnight.
VATICAN
Walk to St. Peter’s for the Papal Audience (subject to the Holy Father’s schedule). Afterward, enjoy a brief lunch break before
an afternoon tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at a nearby church, followed by dinner and overnight.
ROME
After Mass, the group will join the Scavi Tour (subject to confirmation). The rest of the day is free to explore Rome at your leisure. Enjoy dinner and overnight at your hotel.
ROME - USA
Transfer to Fiumicino Airport for our flight home.
